Heritage Candles LLC has rebranded to The TBR Collection!

Mackenzie here! I’m the maker behind The TBR Collection and I’m so excited that you’re here. Below you’ll find a few of the reasons we decided to rebrand from Heritage Candles LLC to The TBR Collection.

I’ve always been a big reader; I had great examples in my parents growing up, who each had shelves of books at home to read through. I carried this forward into my high school and college years, and found myself one of those rare adults who continues reading, so when I decided to add a Bookish Collection of candles to my store in 2021, it felt like a natural transition.

I knew I wanted it to be about more than just candles though, which is how we came across Reading is Fundamental, a national non-profit organization dedicated to ending childhood illiteracy in the US. A portion of every bookish sale goes to RIF, and that’s something I’ve been incredibly proud of.

As the Bookish line grew in popularity, I started adding other book-inspired scents to our line up, from specific series to people’s favorite tropes. As we continued, I knew it was the direction I wanted to go with the business, and Heritage Candles LLC was no longer a reflection of the book-inspired business I was running.

Cue 2023 and a cross-country move. Every time my military family has to pick up and move, it always brings about such change, but this time it was in the best way. I was more certain than ever that I wanted to take the business in a more book-centered direction, but that it would take a lot of time and dedication to do so. That’s why it took until 2025 to start putting the wheels in motion.

In 2025 I reached out to a brand specialist to help me bring the vision I had in mind to life. I knew it was beyond my capabilities as a candle maker to do The TBR Collection justice. After I found someone I loved working with (thank you to Kendra Charrington from Covarra Studio!!), we got started on the rebrand. It was absolutely AMAZING to see everything that had lived in my brain since 2021 come to life.

Our products

Every candle is made with 100% soy wax, is phthalate- and dye-free, and is made with fragrance oils that have candle-safe essential oils in their make up.

Why does that matter?

One of the biggest complaints we hear from people who are hesitant to try candles is that they give them headaches. I understand that feeling completely, and that’s actually what led me to making candles in the first place; I kept getting headaches from the ones I bought from the store.

That’s why when I started researching what goes into candles, I was horrified. There are ingredients in traditional candles that are petroleum based, have known carcinogens, and contain phthalates, which cause things like headaches among other health issues.

That’s the difference between those candles and ours:

We use 100% soy wax, so no paraffin at all, which is petroleum based
We use fragrances that are free from phthalates, so you won’t get those candle induced headaches
Our fragrances also use candle-safe essential oils in them
- Not all essential oils are safe to burn! So if you buy candles from someone who hasn’t done the research, you might still get headaches or other illnesses from ‘all natural’ candles.

What you bring into your home matters, and we promise to give only the absolute best; I burn these candles in my home every day, and with three little girls and pets at home, I’ll only use the best, highest quality ingredients.

Community matters

At The TBR Collection, a portion of all sales goes to Reading is Fundamental, which means you’re helping put books into the hands of children. I’m a firm believer in giving back, and this community I’ve built has been an incredible inspiration for me.

So you can know that every purchase is more than just candles: you’re sharing your passion for reading with the children who need it most.

What to expect going forward

We’ll continue to have seasonal launches, as well as year-round favorites, like the Well-Read Collection. I’m still the maker behind the scents, so if you’ve loved scents I’ve created in the past, you’ll love the new scents we have going forward. We custom blend our scents, so you won’t be able to find them anywhere else. The care, quality, and craftsmanship I put into each candle is staying the same.

We now offer two sizes in each scent: 10oz and 17oz. The 10oz candle is a single wick and will burn up to 50 hours when cared for properly. The 17oz candle is a triple wick and will burn for up to 100 hours when cared for properly. We will no longer carry wax melts or 4oz candle options.
